Best downloadable Spanish courses?

January 26, 2006

I am constantly on the road and don’t like carrying lots of books and cd’s with me. So basically everything I buy now adays is in electronic form. Ebooks to read on my screen or audio books for my Ipod.

I talked before about the best books for learning Spanish but these were in print or cd form.

My Spanish is fluent enough so I am not going to try out any new books myself. But people are always asking me advice here.

The two downloadable ones I have seen that look most promising are:

Learning Spanish like crazy

A friend of mine from work had ordered the Learning Spanish like crazy mp3’s to play on his IPod and really loved it. He says the focus on Latin American Spanish was fantastic. While you can use Spanish Spanish in Latin America, you do enter yourself into one or two comical moments as I can attest to.

The downloadable version of Learning Spanish like Crazy is available for $97, where the CD package costs $347. Since most of us now adays have iPods and the like the downloadable one sounds like a nobrainer. By registering on the site they give you access to 2 mp3 lessons you can try out.

Learn How to Speak Spanish

This is a much cheaper option at $19.95. It is also a download but includes an electronic book, audio lessons and a flash card software package.

I liked the example PDF lesson that they had for free on the web site. It looks like they use many of the same tips that make Madrigals key to Spanish fantastic. One big advantage over Madrigal is that it is more uptodate Spanish. Madrigal was written in the 50s.

Please if you have tried them, post your own review in the comments below.
